From July 3 to 12, 2026, the Diocesan and Capitular Museum of Terni will host Transitions, a solo exhibition by Carla Pugliano. The opening, scheduled for July 4 at 4:30 PM, will feature a critical intervention by Daniele Radini Tedeschi, curator of the Grenada Pavilion at the 61st International Art Exhibition – Venice Biennale 2026 and editorial director of the Atlante dell’Arte Contemporanea published by Giunti.

Patronized by the Municipality of Terni and realized in collaboration with Start Edizioni, the Cultural Association La Rosa dei Venti, and CathArt Gallery, Transitions represents a significant milestone in Carla Pugliano’s artistic research. The artist identifies matter as the privileged place for reflecting on the meaning of existence and its continuous transformations. The works presented in the exhibition stand as testimonies of an ongoing process, in which the visible dimension opens up to a deeper, evocative, and contemplative sphere.

Through chromatic layering, sedimentations, and marks emerging from the pictorial surface, the artist constructs perceptual fields where memory and intuition coexist in a dynamic balance. The chromatic impasto becomes a living presence, a repository of experiences, a place where what belongs to the most intimate sphere of the individual emerges.

In this perspective, painting does not aim to describe reality but to question it. It is precisely within this emotional tension between presence and absence, permanence and transformation, that the artist’s most authentic signature emerges.

The exhibition coherently continues the artist’s path, recently highlighted by her inclusion in the Atlante dell’Arte Contemporanea, where it is noted that “the artist succeeds in building a bridge between tradition and innovation” and that “her works reveal a constantly evolving poetics, oriented toward a gradual and continuous refinement.” A poetics in which “the defining feature is pathos—intense, palpable, and vibrant.” As further emphasized in the critical text published in the volume, “she gives life to a form of emotional release where color and matter, privileged tools of creation, manage to penetrate and explore the soul. Sensitive and perceptive, Carla Pugliano becomes the narrative voice of reflections on earthly existence, long subject to contemplation by saturnine spirits.”

Transitions is conceived as a journey of contemplation and awareness, in which painting becomes a tool of knowledge, capable of transforming visual experience into an inner voyage of introspection and self-discovery.

The exhibition will be open to the public from July 3 to 12, 2026, daily from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM, including weekends, with free admission.
