Free admission
Organized by: Agarte – Fucina delle Arti
In collaboration with: Mauro Ruggiero
Moderated by: Alessandro Giansanti
The presentation marks the opening of Agarte’s new artistic space, a place of contrast and dialogue between tradition and contemporaneity, where experimental research and cultural heritage meet. For this occasion, the association and gallery present a book that intertwines the suspense of a psychological noir with the precision of a historical novel, set against the backdrop of communist Czechoslovakia, dominated by totalitarianism and secret police surveillance. The city of Prague forms the setting, while the fascinating and mysterious game of chess takes center stage.
The Petrovič System continues a rich literary tradition in which chess becomes the perfect language to explore power, freedom, and madness. Engaging in a conscious dialogue with authors such as Stefan Zweig, Vladimir Nabokov, Paolo Maurensig, and Jorge Luis Borges, Ruggiero’s novel transforms chess from metaphor into a true structural system, governed by an inexorable internal logic. The novel offers a profound reflection on themes such as the difficulty of distinguishing good from evil, the complexity and contradictions of human nature, and the dynamics of power.
The presentation will be open to the public with free admission on Wednesday, January 28 at 6:30 PM, at the new venue located at Via G. Lunati 14, 00044 Frascati (RM).
