Yesterday as today, the safeguarding of boundaries depends on culture, sensitivity, respect for others, and on the capacity to welcome and to extend rights. A boundary is an extremely thin physical space whose protection relies on ethical and moral awareness and on political responsibility.
The selected artists address the theme through references to the current political context and through reflections on its collective, emotional, personal, and ancestral dimensions. Despite presenting only one work per artist, the exhibition takes shape as a collective statement on a highly topical issue.
Curated by Penelope Filacchione and Angelica Zanninelli
During the opening at 6:00 pm, visitors are invited to attend Alessio Trevisani’s performance Der Mann im Fahrstuhl, inspired by the monologue by Heiner Müller—one of the leading German playwrights of the twentieth century—and originally staged and sound-designed by composer and director Heiner Goebbels.
