Sacro Imperfetto
An artistic dialogue between Giancarlo Pavanello and Sonya Orfalian Saturday, November 7, 2026, 6:00 PM Via Reno 18a, Rome
Tuesday through Saturday, 4:30 PM – 7:30 PM – the exhibition continues until November 28 On Saturday, November 7,
the exhibition "Sacro Imperfetto" opens to the public, a project featuring artists Giancarlo Pavanello and Sonya Orfalian.
The exhibition explores the Logismoi of Evagrius Ponticus, while also recalling humanity's profound need to turn to the heavens, to seek comfort, hope, and the nourishment necessary for life.
The heart of the exhibition lies in the dialogue and contrast between the two artists. On the one hand, Giancarlo Pavanello offers an overview of the dynamics of the mind and its primordial needs, giving form and substance to the deadly sins. On the other hand, Sonya Orfalian invites us to slow down, to pause and observe what often escapes our daily attention.
Pavanello's verbal-visual works are dedicated to the Logisms: the intrusive thoughts, passions, or mental suggestions that, according to the "Desert Fathers," distance the individual from the spiritual dimension. Her works depict the nine deadly sins of ancient tradition—as opposed to the seven of later tradition—and visually synthesize the "domestic graffiti," other works on display that showcase a profound insight into what the human intellect is capable of producing in order to distract itself from its own inner sphere.
Sonya Orfalian, on the other hand, explores the spiritual dimension of human experience, a presence that accompanies and permeates the audience throughout the exhibition, opening windows onto inner worlds and hidden realities. This spiritual quest also includes the theme of prayer, understood as a universal and human gesture.
In "Sacro Imperfetto," the observation of reality, with its constant chaos of thoughts and needs, coexists with the silence that allows the works to speak, creating a space for vision, thought, and interiority to converge. The shared goal is to offer a vision and a resolution to human events, which have always remained the same in their infinite repetition.
The critical text dedicated to Giancarlo Pavanello's works is edited by Alessandro Gaudio, while composer Riccardo Giagni provides the exhibition's soundtrack with a piece that will accompany the entire event.
As per Bianco Contemporaneo gallery tradition, the exhibition will be accompanied by a limited-edition artist's portfolio of 50 numbered copies: a precious case containing reproductions of all the works on display, additional works by the artists, critical texts, and biographical notes.
We would like to thank Don Mario Leite De Oliveira and Alessandra Magistrati for their valuable collaboration.
