MASSA, Italy — Villa Cuturi was filled to capacity on Friday, July 18, as visitors gathered for the opening of "Azul," the new solo exhibition by contemporary artist Dale. The evening evolved into an emotionally charged cultural event, confirming the public's strong interest in a project that seamlessly combines contemporary art, music, poetry and dance into a single immersive experience.

From the very beginning, the audience was drawn into an artistic dialogue of remarkable intensity. Professional dancer Violantedanza served as both the opening and closing presence of the performance, becoming the thread that connected the evening's different artistic languages. Entering the stage to the sound of the sea and accompanied by live musicians, she guided the audience into the poetic universe of Azul—a journey suspended between sky and earth. Together with Dale, the musicians, the guest speakers and the presenters, she helped create an atmosphere that immediately immersed the audience in the exhibition's emotional landscape.

The evening reached its emotional peak during the closing performance, when Dale and Violantedanza presented "The Delicate Thread of Existence," accompanied by live music. The choreography gave physical form to the exhibition's central themes, transforming the artist's poetic vision into movement. Through her expressive presence and artistic sensitivity, Violantedanza expanded the emotional language of the exhibition, allowing dance to become a natural extension of Dale's colour, texture and poetry.

For over an hour, the audience experienced a multidisciplinary performance featuring the musical soundscape created by Tazio Andrei and Diego Barnabà, performances by singer-songwriter Marco Alberti, an artistic contribution by Maurizio Fruzzetti, and reflections by Olga Raffo, whose words explored the identity and experience of women. The evening was elegantly hosted by Stefano Bessi Carloni and Aurora Giardina.

Institutional representatives also attended the opening. Councillors Matteo Basteri and Francesco Mangiaracina, representing the Municipality of Massa, addressed the audience. The exhibition is held under the patronage of the Region of Tuscany, the Province of Massa-Carrara, and the Municipality of Massa.

Alongside the paintings—whose layered blue surfaces evoke both sky and sea—the exhibition also presents sixteen original texts written by Dale, each dedicated to the story of a different woman. One of the evening's most significant reflections came from Olga Raffo, President of the association Scritture femminili, memorie di donne ("Women's Writings, Women's Memories").

"As a scholar of women's writings, from the Middle Ages to the twentieth century, my work focuses on preserving and promoting women's voices and identities. I was deeply moved by the way Dale's sensitivity and introspection succeeded in giving voice to the emotional depth of the female experience."

Reflecting on the evening, Dale highlighted the collaborative spirit behind the performance.

"Working with such sensitive musicians and with a professional dancer like Violantedanza was both inspiring and immensely rewarding," he said. "Last night confirmed for me that a work of art can breathe through other artistic languages such as music and dance. Every artist brought their own identity while building a genuine dialogue. There were not simply performers sharing a stage, but people deeply listening to one another's work. I have always believed that the human experience comes before the artistic one, and I think the audience truly felt that."

That same philosophy lies at the heart of "The Delicate Thread of Existence," the choreography conceived by Violantedanza.

"Building does not mean being unshakable," she explained. "It means embracing our own moments of uncertainty with intention, transforming fragility into a conscious path—an inner axis that guides us through life. This event offered me the opportunity to renew my commitment to an ongoing dialogue with other artistic disciplines, creating a silent yet profound exchange with the audience. It is the continuation of a research project I have been developing over the past two years, brought vividly to life through poetry, visual art, music and the powerful voices that shaped this evening."

Already internationally recognised for his monumental Guinness World Records installations, Dale once again reaffirms his connection with the city of Massa through Azul, exploring the colour blue as both a symbolic and emotional space. The exhibition invites visitors into immersive environments where textured surfaces unfold like inner landscapes, layered with translucent hues and strata of light, encouraging reflection on the relationship between what transcends us and what exists within us.

Following the remarkable success of its opening night, Azul confirms itself as more than an exhibition. It is a rare space for contemplation, beauty and dialogue, where contemporary painting meets music, poetry and contemporary dance to create a truly multidisciplinary artistic experience.
