With Dallo Sguardo Al Segno, Lo Studio – Nadja Romain, in collaboration with Galleria Rossana Orlandi, presents the first solo exhibition in Venice by Armand Louis, Swiss artist and designer and co-founder of Atelier Oï. The exhibition marks a new chapter in Louis’s more than thirty-five years of research into material, structure, and craftsmanship. At its centre is a body of blown-glass works developed in close dialogue with the master glassmakers of Wave Murano Glass, where contemporary experimentation meets the savoir-faire of Murano’s long-standing tradition. The starting point of Louis’s practice is the observation of nature. Rather than directly reproducing natural forms, the artist seeks to understand their underlying principles: growth, tension, movement, and transformation. Through these dynamics, glass is given the freedom to express its own nature, defined by fluidity, transparency, and unpredictability. Each work emerges from the encounter between intention, craftsmanship, and the behaviour of the material. In Oxydis, copper destabilised by fire becomes a vehicle for transformation; Echinozoa draws inspiration from the structure of sea-urchin spines; while Confluo emerges from the encounter between cast and blown glass. In Auris, centrifugal force opens and shapes the material, while Innesto translates the forms of growth and coexistence found in epiphytic plants into glass through the coordinated work of several master glassmakers. The exhibition also extends beyond the visual dimension. In Pentafonia, developed with Studio Pase, five blown-glass forms reveal their own resonant frequencies, becoming the elements of a musical composition. Glass thus becomes not only something to look at, but also something to listen to — a material capable of revealing an invisible dimension of its nature. In Venice, Armand Louis’s research finds a particularly meaningful context, entering into dialogue with a culture of making that has made glass one of its most refined languages for centuries. Dallo Sguardo Al Segno brings together observation and gesture, nature and material, experimentation and tradition.

The exhibition is presented under the patronage of the Consulate of Switzerland in Venice, as part of The Venice Glass Week 2026 and On the Occasion of Homo Faber 2026, further highlighting the connection between Louis’s contemporary research and the living heritage of Venetian craftsmanship.
