La mostra testimonia, con opere appartenenti a collezioni private, il lavoro eclettico e di ricerca svolto dall’artista nei vari settori di interesse, spaziando dalla pittura alla scultura, dalle arti applicate all’editoria.

Nel corso dell’evento inaugurale sarà presentata la pubblicazione a cura di Sandra Leone e Alessandra Scerrato, con prefazione di Anna Imponente e Lorenzo Canova, contenente i più importanti saggi e contributi di autorevoli personalità della cultura italiana e di critici d’arte: Giorgio Saviane, Sandra Orienti, Mirella Bentivoglio, Enrico Crispolti, Filiberto Menna, Costantino Dardi, Massimo Carboni, Simonetta Lux, Giuseppe Appella, Antonello Rubini, Roberto Gramiccia, Lorenzo Canova, Carlo Fabrizio Carli, Sandra Leone ,che hanno dato parola alle sue opere. Ferdinando Amodei, in arte Tito. Pittore, scultore, incisore nato a Colli a Volturno (Isernia) nel 1926. Membro della Comunità Passionista della Scala Santa, ha vissuto dal 1966 a Roma dove ha fondato Sala 1 - Centro Internazionale d’arte sperimentale, ubicato nel complesso della Scala Santa. Diplomato all’Accademia di Belle Arti di Firenze, inizia nel 1964 l’attività espositive in Italia e all’estero. Molta della sua produzione artistica è entrata a far parte di importanti e monumentali decorazioni, quali affreschi, vetrate, mosaici in spazi pubblici, in particolar modo in chiese e luoghi sacri. Privilegiando la passione di Cristo, sia in pittura che in scultura ha realizzato la Via Crucis in bronzo nei Sassi di Matera, il grande fregio di trenta metri in terracotta del Collegio Massimo all’EUR di Roma e i mosaici (250 metri quadra ti) nel Santuario di Santa Maria Goretti a Nettuno. Inoltre, è stato impegnato anche in opere di carattere civile, come in monumenti per i caduti. Del suo lavoro si sono occupati noti scrittori e critici, pubblicando cataloghi e monografie sul suo lavoro e la sua figura. Nel 1970 fonda Sala 1, in uno spazio attiguo alla Scala Santa. Nel 1962, per le Edizioni De Luca di Roma, pubblica un’antologica su La Passione del Signore nell’arte contemporanea da cui fu tratto un documentario premiato alla Biennale di Venezia. Tito è stato Accademico Pontificio dei Virtuosi al Pantheon e consulente alla CEI per l’edilizia per il culto. Ha inoltre pubblicato diversi studi sulla Scala Santa e scritto d’arte in riviste di informazione religiosa. Le sue opere sono presenti in importanti collezioni private e pubbliche e nelle raccolte di prestigiosi musei del mondo. . Muore a Roma il 31 gennaio del 2018, all’età di 91 anni.

TRAleVOLTE APS, to mark the centenary of the birth of Ferdinando Amodei, artist name ‘Tito’ (Isernia, 1926), is delighted to present TITO. 100 Years Through Form, a travelling exhibition that will open in Rome at our Association’s premises, before moving to Palazzo Spaventa in L’Aquila, the 2026 Capital of Culture (from 20 August to 12 September 2026), at the 53rd edition of the Sulmona | To THINK – Art Leaves a Mark Award, with a special exhibition (from 17 October to 8 November 2026, with the book launch on 8 November 2026 at 6.00 pm at the Diocesan Civic Museum Complex of Santa Chiara), as well as at other venues to be announced in due course.

The exhibition, featuring works from private collections, showcases the artist’s eclectic and exploratory work across a range of fields, spanning painting, sculpture, the applied arts and publishing.

During the opening event, a publication edited by Sandra Leone and Alessandra Scerrato will be presented, with a foreword by Anna Imponente and Lorenzo Canova. It contains the most significant essays and contributions from leading figures in Italian culture and art critics: Giorgio Saviane, Sandra Orienti, Mirella Bentivoglio, Enrico Crispolti, Filiberto Menna, Costantino Dardi, Massimo Carboni, Simonetta Lux, Giuseppe Appella, Antonello Rubini, Roberto Gramiccia, Lorenzo Canova, Carlo Fabrizio Carli and Sandra Leone, who have offered their insights into his works. The volume is enriched by photographic documentation produced by Stefano Fontebasso de Martino, who has followed Tito’s work over the last forty years.

Ferdinando Amodei, artist name Tito. Painter, sculptor and engraver, born in Colli a Volturno (Isernia) in 1926. A member of the Passionist Community of the Scala Santa, he has lived in Rome since 1966, where he founded Sala 1 – International Centre for Experimental Art, located within the Scala Santa complex. A graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence, he began exhibiting his work in Italy and abroad in 1964. Much of his artistic output has become part of significant and monumental decorations, such as frescoes, stained-glass windows and mosaics in public spaces, particularly in churches and sacred sites. Focusing on the Passion of Christ, both in painting and sculpture, he created the bronze Via Crucis in the Sassi of Matera, the large thirty-metre terracotta frieze at the Collegio Massimo in Rome’s EUR district, and the mosaics (250 square metres) in the Sanctuary of Santa Maria Goretti in Nettuno. Furthermore, he was also involved in public works, such as monuments to the fallen. His work has been the subject of attention by well-known writers and critics, who have published catalogues and monographs on his work and his life. In 1970, he founded Sala 1, in a space adjacent to the Scala Santa. In 1962, he published an anthology on *The Passion of the Lord in Contemporary Art* for Edizioni De Luca in Rome, which formed the basis for a documentary that won an award at the Venice Biennale. Tito was a Pontifical Academician of the Virtuosi al Pantheon and an advisor to the Italian Episcopal Conference (CEI) on religious architecture. He also published several studies on the Holy Stairs and wrote about art in religious periodicals. His works are held in major private and public collections and in the collections of prestigious museums around the world. He died in Rome on 31 January 2018, aged 91.
