Sesto Senso Art Gallery is pleased to opening the Exhibition Specific Weight – What emerges, what remains, during Rome Art Week.

When something loses its original form, does it also lose its weight?

PESO SPECIFICO begins with this question, examining how objects, images, and memories continue to exist differently through displacement, deterioration, and the passage of time.

The exhibition unfolds along two connected directions: EMERGERE and RESTARE.

EMERGERE considers what has been hidden, displaced, or removed from its original context. When it becomes visible again, what once seemed familiar can be seen and interpreted differently.

RESTARE turns to what survives change: fractures, worn surfaces, and fragments.

These are not flaws waiting to be repaired, but material evidence of what has taken place.

The artist duo Nie Mengxi & Andrea Rizzo and artist Zhang Xingyu approach these two directions from different perspectives: in one, what was concealed comes into view; in the other, remaining traces become the focus of attention.

The exhibition does not attempt to reconstruct the past. Instead, it asks: when wholeness

is lost, on what grounds do we judge the value of a thing?
