Francesco Biondo at the 30th ARTfair Innsbruck with Trasmutazione

The work from the Universi Fluidi series will be exhibited in the Biancoscuro space as part of the NewArt Promotion project, from 23 to 25 October 2026.

Francesco Biondo will take part in the 30th edition of ARTfair Innsbruck with Trasmutazione, an oil pastel on cardboard from his Universi Fluidi series. The work will be presented in the Biancoscuro exhibition space, which will showcase a selection of artists as part of the NewArt Promotion project.

Created several years ago, Trasmutazione belongs to an artistic exploration in which forms resist fixed definitions and appear to take part in a continuous process of transformation. Against a deep, grainy grey background, organic shapes and fragments of imaginary figures emerge. At the centre, a blue form edged in red folds in on itself, while an elongated blue shape crosses the composition diagonally, opening up a direction in space. Shades of orange and small, light-coloured traces emerge from the darker areas, suggesting a shifting whole of which the viewer can perceive only fragments.

In my work, I am interested in the moment when a form seems to lose its boundaries and take on a different configuration. In Trasmutazione, this transition remains unresolved: it is impossible to tell whether what we see is coming into being, changing or dissolving. The forms seem to belong to a larger organism, of which only certain parts are visible. This uncertainty keeps the image alive, leaving room for interpretations that may change with each viewer.

Biancoscuro and the NewArt Promotion project

For this edition, Biancoscuro will have its own exhibition space, presenting a selection of artists involved in the NewArt Promotion project. The initiative brings together artists with different backgrounds and approaches, offering visitors the opportunity to discover a range of artistic languages, sensibilities and contemporary practices.
