Born in Locorotondo (BA), Angela Consoli graduated in Textile Arts from the Monopoli Institute of Art and in Painting from the Academy of Fine Arts in Bari. Her research focuses on the recove-ry and reinvention of discarded objects—doors, shutters, fragments of wood, parts of household appliances—found in abandoned places, masserie, trulli, and industrial spaces. Through painterly interventions, verbal insertions, acrylics, and photography, the artist brings these materials back into circulation as authentic “containers of memory,” reinterpreting them with an approach that is both ironic and measured.
A versatile artist, she works with a wide range of techniques and materials, including ceramics, textiles, wood, and iron, developing a layered and coherent visual language. Alongside her artistic practice, she is involved in organizing events, exhibitions, and performances, gaining extensive national and international exhibition experience in both solo and group shows.
Winner of the Esseri Urbani open call in 2019 and 2021, she has received several awards, inclu-ding the “Stregarti per l’Arte Contemporanea” Prize (2018), the International Contemporary Art Prize “Limen” (2017), the “Periscopio sull’Arte Contemporanea” Prize (2016), and the “Sulmona Prize” (2016).
Alongside her visual production, she pursues performative experiences connected to singing, with public performances in cultural and institutional contexts. She teaches Art and Visual Studies.
