Founded in Varese in 2011 by Sofia Macchi, PUNTO SULL’ARTE Gallery has, in just a few years, become a key reference point for collectors. Its excellence has been recognised through prestigious achievements: in 2013, it became a member of the National Association of Modern and Contemporary Art Galleries, and in January 2016, it made its debut at Arte Fiera Bologna.
PUNTO SULL’ARTE’s philosophy is to support Italian and international painters and sculptors whose work is rooted in traditional approaches yet characterised by a contemporary sensibility. They are all united by an exceptionally high standard of quality, an essential and non-negotiable criterion for the gallery. Guided by this principle, Sofia Macchi has chosen to promote artists such as Matteo Massagrande, Alex Pinna and Annalù, whose artistic vision is deeply rooted in Italian culture and whose work has gained international recognition.
The gallery’s international outlook is one of the key factors behind its success. Its curiosity about developments on the global art scene fosters fruitful collaborations with galleries in Italy and abroad, from Northern Europe to the United States, in a constant search for the most exciting and emerging artistic voices. One example is Federico Infante, a young Chilean artist who has received considerable acclaim in New York and came to the Varese gallery for his European debut. The gallery’s regular participation in leading art fairs is essential to building and maintaining relationships with Italian and international artists, art professionals and collectors. These events include the aforementioned Arte Fiera in Bologna, ArtVerona, as well as several fairs abroad.
Housed in an Art Nouveau building not far from the city centre, the gallery occupies a 300-square-metre space spread over two floors. The ground-floor exhibition rooms are generally dedicated to current exhibitions, while the upper floor features a carefully curated, ever-evolving permanent group exhibition showcasing all the artists represented by the gallery.
